This cocktail was created by Chris Bressoud (@thesilverfoxcocktails) in 2023 for a holiday edition of Soundtrack My Friends Drink (@soundtrackmydrink). His prompt was Fall Out Boy’s “Yule Shoot Your Eye Out,” along with a request from Lewis (@sundaycocktailclub) for something built on dark rum. Chris took it in the direction of a rum-based Black Manhattan, splitting the amaro component between Luxardo Bitter Bianco and Ramazzotti. It is rich and boozy but brighter than it looks, with citrusy bitterness cutting through the rum’s oak, vanilla, and darker cola spice. The name comes from the song’s “one awkward silence” lyric, which is just too perfect not to use.Cheers y’all!
Ingredients
- 2 oz · 60 mlaged rum (Doorly’s 12 Year is what Chris used)
- ½ oz · 15 mlLuxardo Bitter Bianco
- ½ oz · 15 mlAmaro Ramazzotti
- 4 dashesAngostura bitters
- 4 dashesorange bitters
Method

Add all ingredients to a mixing glass.

Add ice and stir until chilled.

Strain into a chilled coupe or Nick and Nora.

Garnish with cherries.
