This cocktail was created by Sam Ross (@samueljoelross) in 2024. Bourbon, lemon, and ginger give it a familiar whiskey-sour foundation, while a substantial measure of Fernet-Branca adds a bitter, herbal backbone and mint brings some freshness to the combination. It also feels closely related to Ross’s Midnight Stinger, another bourbon-and-Fernet sour, but the Firebrand pulls back considerably on the Fernet and swaps simple syrup for ginger while bringing mint directly into the shaken drink.Cheers y’all!
Ingredients
- 1½ oz · 45 mlbourbon
- ½ oz · 15 mlFernet Branca
- ¾ oz · 22.5 mlfresh lemon juice
- ¾ oz · 22.5 mlginger syrup
- 6–8mint leaves
Method
- 1
Add all ingredients to a shaker tin.

Add ice and shake until chilled.

Strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice.

Garnish with a mint bouquet.
