About
This cocktail was created by Zack “ZGR” Gelnaw-Rubin at Lion Lion in East Harlem. The name is a nod to Ming of Harlem, the tiger famously discovered living in a Harlem apartment alongside an alligator in 2003. Lion Lion later shared the drink in memory of Ming after his death in 2019, making the reference especially fitting for a bar rooted in the same neighborhood. The drink itself goes in a much more tropical direction. The watermelon keeps it bright and fresh while the coconut gives it some richness, with plenty of dark rum underneath. It is a pretty simple build, but definitely one of those combinations that makes me wonder why watermelon and coconut do not show up together more often.Cheers y’all!
