About
This cocktail was created by Kathryn “Pepper” Stashek (@pepperkathryn) at Attaboy in New York City in 2018. It is a riff on Tom Richter’s Haitian Divorce, reversing that drink’s rum and mezcal proportions so mezcal takes the lead, then replacing Pedro Ximénez sherry and Angostura bitters with coffee liqueur and orange bitters. The result is smoky and spirit-forward, with roasted coffee, caramel, and orange rounding out the agave. The name neatly continues the relationship-drama theme of its predecessor.
The custom ice here comes from Abstract Ice (@abstract_ice). Jeff Helms developed a new method to etch my logo into both the top and side of the cube, something Abstract Ice had not done before. It is truly innovative work and such a cool way to bring the Anatomy of a Drink logo directly into the glass.Cheers y’all!
