This old fashioned riff was created in 2007 by Phil Ward at Death & Company. Ward coined the term, “Mr. Potato Head,” for the method of swapping an ingredient or two out from a known cocktail to reimagine it. Here, a citrusy gin is added in place of whiskey, and for sweetness, a floral liqueur is used in place of demerara syrup.Cheers y’all!
Ingredients
- 2 oz · 60 mlgin (Plymouth)
- ½ oz · 15 mlelderflower liqueur
- 2 dashesorange bitters
- grapefruit peel oil
Method
- 1
Add all ingredients to mixing glass.

Stir with ice until chilled.
- 3
Strain into a glass over a BFC.
- 4
Express grapefruit peel oil over the surface.
- 5
Garnish with grapefruit twist.
