About
This cocktail was created in 2014 by Brian Lee at Noble Experiment in San Diego. It is an Old Fashioned riff that uses Licor 43, a Spanish vanilla-spiced liqueur, as the sweetening agent.
I made this version specifically for Whiskey JYPSI (@whiskeyjypsi) using their Tribute Bourbon. I am admittedly fashionably late to the brand, but the double-barreled bourbon immediately made sense here. Its layers of vanilla, honey, and toasted oak fold naturally into the Licor 43, giving the drink depth while keeping the build clean and focused. It is one of those combinations where everything reinforces itself instead of competing.Cheers y’all!
