About
This cocktail was created by Toby Maloney (@tobycocktail) at The Violet Hour in Chicago in 2010. Maloney describes it as a cross between a spicy Margarita and a Hotel Nacional, with pineapple and Licor 43 giving the tequila-based sour a softer tropical side. He chose green Tabasco because it provides consistent heat while its fresh pepper flavor works naturally with tequila. The vanilla notes from the Licor 43 help connect the pineapple and gentle spice. This is the recipe published by Maloney in "The Bartender's Manifesto." I have also seen this recipe shared in the Madrusan Cocktail Companion where it omits the simple syrup and includes 3 dashes of both bitters and Tabasco.Cheers y’all!
