About
This cocktail was created by Sam Ross (@samueljoelross) for Hearts in Nashville, which opened in 2020 as a Melbourne-inspired café from Ross, Michael McIlroy, and Ross’s twin sister Kate. It keeps the familiar vodka-and-espresso structure of an Espresso Martini but skips the usual coffee liqueur in favor of banana liqueur and vanilla syrup. The banana works especially well with coffee without turning the drink into an overtly fruity cocktail, while vanilla rounds everything out and reinforces some of the sweeter notes in the espresso. The drink has stuck around too, remaining a favorite at Hearts and later appearing at Temple Bar in New York.Cheers y’all!
