About
This cocktail was created by Isaiah LaBelle (@onesipclub), a good friend of mine who had recently shared the recipe when I decided to make it. I posted it with the opening line, “Meet me at the Stateline,” only for Isaiah to tell me afterward that the drink was actually called Stateside. By then, my post had already started getting some traffic, and he liked Stateline enough that he decided to change the name. I always love a split base of whiskey and aged rum, and this one feels somewhere between an Old Fashioned and a Black Manhattan. The Averna brings its dark, bittersweet mix of caramel, orange, and herbal notes, while the Madagascar vanilla syrup adds just a little sweetness to round it all out. A great way to win over the whiskey lovers while sneaking in some delicious Jamaican rum.Cheers y’all!
