About
This cocktail dates back to at least the 1890s, although the recipe has changed quite a bit over its long history. The earliest versions were little more than gin, bitters, and a splash of seltzer, while later recipes introduced ingredients like vermouth, maraschino, and even Crème Yvette. I found this version through the Bartender’s Choice app, and it follows one of the more Martini-like variations, pairing gin and dry vermouth with a small amount of maraschino and orange bitters. The maraschino adds just enough cherry and almond-like character to soften the dry build, while orange bitters and lemon oil keep everything bright and aromatic.Cheers y’all!
