This cocktail was created in 2010 by Zachary Gelnaw-Rubin at Dutch Kills (Queens, NY). This whiskey sour variation adds Cynar for complexity and herbal notes. Cynar is an Italian bitter amaro that is usually served as an aperitif or digestif. It is produced from herbs and spices, most notably artichoke.Cheers y’all!
Ingredients
- 2 oz · 60 mlbourbon
- ¾ oz · 22.5 mlCynar
- ½ oz · 15 mlfresh lemon juice
- ½ oz · 15 mldemerara syrup
Method

Add all ingredients to shaker tin.

Shake with ice until chilled.

Fine strain into coupe or Nick and Nora.
- 4
Garnish with lemon twist (optional).
