I keep thinking of what my buddy Matthias Soberon (@servedbysoberon) once said, “The quest to find the best rum combination in a Mai Tai is like a Tikilover's search for the Holy Grail." I made this one for my birthday, and the blend of rums I used were *Hampden Estate 8 yr and Smith & Cross. A Mai Tai may be one of my deathbed cocktails (let’s be real, if I’m dying, I’m having more than one drink!).Cheers y’all!
Ingredients
- 2 oz · 60 mlblend of rums*
- ½ oz · 15 mldry curaçao
- ¾ oz · 22.5 mlfresh lime juice
- ½ oz · 15 mlorgeat
- 1 tsp · 5 mlrich simple syrup
Method

Add all ingredients to shaker tin.
- 2
Add a small amount of crushed ice and shake until chilled.

Dirty dump into glass.

Top with crushed or pebble ice.
- 5
Garnish with mint bouquet after slapping it to express oils and spent lime shell.
