About
This cocktail was created by Sother Teague (@creativedrunk) at New York’s Amor y Amargo. It’s essentially a stirred take on the Last Word that swaps the fresh lime juice for an amaro. What really makes the drink click are the lime bitters and lemon peel oil, which bring back that bright citrus edge the original gets from lime.
Over the years, Teague has evolved the spec toward a drier finish, increasing the gin and Montenegro to 1 oz. each and dialing the Chartreuse and maraschino back to ½ oz. That adjustment leans more toward my palate, but both versions are excellent.Cheers y’all!
