About
This cocktail comes from Hugo R. Ensslin’s Recipes for Mixed Drinks (1917). It’s an interesting early 20th century build that leans herbaceous, with Chartreuse and crème de menthe layering over the whiskey and vermouth. I’ve seen a few different takes on the garnish. Madrusan mentions a cherry, Difford cites the original book calling for an olive, and he personally goes with mint, so take your pick depending on the direction you want to push it.Cheers y’all!
