About
This cocktail was created by Phil Ward at Mayahuel in New York City in 2010. I found the recipe in The Madrusan Cocktail Companion, where the tequila is listed as blanco. A number of online versions call for reposado instead, so either seems to have some precedent. Structurally, it feels closely related to Ward’s Oaxaca Old Fashioned, with maraschino and bitters adding a little fruit and spice around the agave base.Cheers y’all!
